Donegal LGFA News – Round Up

Senior Intercounty:

Since our last report our senior ladies play two away games in the league and won them both, against Cavan and Tipperary. This secured the ladies third spot in Division 2. The girls are now preparing for an Ulster Senior Championship Final against Armagh on Saturday 19th May with the venue and time TBC.

Minor Intercounty:

Since the last update or minors played Tyrone away, Armagh at home and Antrim away. Winning all three games. This has secured the girls a spot on the Ulster Minor Platinum Championship Final. They play Cavan in Silverbridge on Saturday 27th April at 3pm.

U16 Intercounty:

In the Ulster Championship our U16s have played 4 games, beating Fermanagh twice but also losing to Antrim twice. The girls have now qualified for the Ulster Silver Championship Semi Final. In which they play Derry in Faughanvale on Sunday 28th April at 5pm.

U14 Intercounty:

Our U14s have been busy. They hosted Down and Antrim in COE Convoy. The travelled to Tyrone to play the host and Armagh. They then hosted Monaghan and Cavan in Downings. The results from these match days saw our girls qualify for the Ulster Silver Championship Final. But unfortunately they where beaten on the day by a strong Down team. The girls are now preparing for the All Ireland Series which begins on Saturday 5th May. They travel to Padraig Pearses, Roscommon to play Kilkenny, Offaly and Sligo.

Other News:

Congratulations to St. Columba’s Comprehensive, Glenties on winning the All Ireland Senior C Championship. And well done to Mia Bennet on picking up the player of the match on the day also.

Congratulations to Roisin Rodgers and Niamh Boyle who were named on the Ladies HEC Rising Stars for 2024 team.

Our Club U16 Leagues began on the 18th March.

Our Club Senior Leagues in association with O’Reilly Sports got underway on 22nd March.

We held an very successful and enjoyable Easter Camp at the COE Convoy.

Our U15 Feile group stages were all played and the finals day will now take place in May.

Congratulations to Buncrana and Killybegs U10 girls teams who were selected to take part in the LGFA U10 Go Games Activity Day in Croke Park later this year.

Congratulations to Abigail Temple Asokhu, Niamh McLaughlin and Susanne White who were named on the LGFA Division 2 Team of the Year 2024.
