Donegal LGFA – News Round Up

Senior Intercounty:

Our senior team gave everything they had to retain the Ulster Senior Championship Title but unfortunately fell just short after extra time by the minimum of 1 point. Donegal 1-13 Armagh 0-17.

Our Seniors now get the All Ireland Senior Championship underway against Kerry in Ballybofey on 9th June at 1.05pm.

Minor Intercounty:

Our minors out up a great fight against Cavan in terrible conditions in the Ulster Platinum Final. Cavan were just to strong for our girls on the day. Donegal 0-07 Cavan 2-09.

U16 Intercounty:

Our U16 squad reach the Ulster Silver Final after beating Derry in the semi final. But unfortunately Antrim proved just too strong for them in the final. Donegal 3-12 Antrim 2-17.

U14 Intercounty:

Our youngest squad, U14, had an excellent run in the All Ireland Silver Series, reaching the final. They overcame Longford in the quarter final. Donegal 2-10 Longford 1-11. It them took them extra time to beat Clare in the semi final. Donegal 2-14 Clare 2-09. But the girls just fell short in the final after a neck and neck battle for the majority of the match. Donegal 2-06 Offaly 4-05.

Club Senior:

Our Club Senior leagues in association with O’Reilly’s Sport continues.

Club Minor:

The fixtures have been sent to all club secretaries, with the first round to begin on 25th June.

Club U16:

Our Club U16 Leagues were completed on the weekend on the 1st and 2nd of June. The winners of each division are as follows:

Division 1 – An Clochan Liath, Division 2 – Naomh Columba, Division 2 Shield – Termon, Division 3 – Malin, Division 3 Shield – Naomh Michael, and Division 4 – Gaeil Fhanada.

Club U14:

Some of the divisions in our U14 leagues have begun recently, with the rest to begin on 15th June.

Go Games:

Club U12, U10 and U8 Go Games are in full swing and hundreds of girls are enjoying playing our sport.


Feile; We held our feile finals and the winners were; Division 1 – An Clochan Liath and Division 2 – Aodh Ruadh.

Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta; Congratulations to An Tearmainn who won our county senior title, Naomh Conaill who won our county intermediate title and Naomh Naille who con our county junior title. An Tearmainn and Naomh Conaill went on to represent Donegal at the All Ireland finals in Cork. But unfortunately they both lost out in their respective finals.
